Breast Enlargement Surgery

This type of surgery is designed to increase volume to the breasts, and if necessary, improve symmetry. During a consultation, Dr. Friedman will discuss options regarding implant type (saline implants or silicone gel filled implants, implant size, incision location, and implant placement (above or below the breast muscle).

When performing breast enlargement in Plano, Dr. Friedman most often uses saline implants. Saline implants are less expensive, require a smaller incision, and have a lower risk of capsular contracture (excessive implant firmness) compared to silicone gel. He may also recommend silicone gel breast implants, especially for individuals who have poor breast tone and/or minimal breast tissue. Silicone gel implants are softer and feel more like breast tissue. He typically places the implants underneath the pec (pectoralis major) muscle through incisions made under the breasts near the natural fold. However, based on each individual's anatomy and desired outcome, a personalized treatment plan will be created; this procedure typically takes about two hours to perform. In addition to breast enhancement surgery, those who have sagging and/or loss of volume in the breasts may wish to also undergo breast lift surgery ("mastopexy") as a combined procedure.
