Plano Tummy Tuck
After multiple pregnancies, massive weight loss, and/or aging, the midsection is often left with stretched-out abdominal muscles and loose, excess skin. In order to improve these features, Ronald M. Friedman, M.D. performs tummy tuck surgery in Plano at the West Plano Plastic Surgery Center. Patient safety is of high importance; Dr. Friedman's practice is located on campus at the Presbyterian Hospital in Plano, which offers the necessary resources to help patients feel at ease. For your convenience, he also has a Flower Mound office.
How is tummy tuck surgery performed?
Medically known as "abdominoplasty," this body contouring procedure is designed to help patients regain a more slender figure. As a wood and marble sculptor, Dr. Friedman brings a creative eye to the surgery in order to provide patients with a tighter abdominal profile.
Depending on the amount of excess skin and stretched-out muscles, patients may undergo a mini abdominoplasty, extended tummy tuck, or full tummy tuck. The extended and full techniques will require a long incision across the lower abdomen, typically from hipbone to hipbone. In a full tummy tuck, Dr. Friedman separates the skin from the underlying muscles up to the ribcage, at which point he tightens the abdominal muscles. The skin is pulled down tightly, trimming away any excess skin, while making a new opening for the belly button. A mini tummy tuck focuses on the area below the navel, providing removal of skin excess, liposuction, and (if necessary) abdominal wall tightening.
In some cases where there are only stubborn pockets of fat, liposuction ("lipoplasty") may be sufficient. Dr. Friedman commonly combines tummy tuck procedures and liposuction to produce improved results. Some of the most frequently treated areas for lipoplasty include the "love handles," hips, and thighs. Dr. Friedman frequently performs abdominoplasty and liposuction as part of a "Mommy Makeover" surgery.
