As a plastic surgeon, I love kids.  They’re great for business!  While pregnancy and childbirth are wonderful experiences, they often take a toll on breasts, tummies, and thighs.

Mommy makeover” encompasses any combination of surgical procedures used to treat the adverse effects of childbearing.    This is an area of particular interest to me, as much of my practice is devoted to breast augmentation, breast lift, tummy tucks, and liposuction (often in combination).

When breast and body contouring procedures are combined, the results can be dramatic.  If your abdomen sticks out more than your breasts, this relationship can be reversed by breast implants and abdominal contouring procedures.  If you have excessive abdominal skin that is “stretched out,” this can be improved by tummy tuck.  If your breasts sag and have lost volume, breast implants with breast lifting can restore perkiness.

As with any other surgical procedure, it is important to see a surgeon who has significant experience with mommy makeovers.  To give you some idea, in the past two weeks (December 10 -24, 2010), I performed the specific combination of breast augmentation, breast lift, tummy tuck, and liposuction for three women (as well as a tummy tuck, liposuction, and breast enlargement procedures for several other women.)  Practice doesn’t make perfect, but it sure helps.
