Wrinkle Treatment Options

Botox and Dysport are made of botulinum toxin Type A, which temporarily blocks the underlying muscles that cause wrinkles. Dr. Friedman can help patients smooth out creases between the eyes ("glabella"), on the forehead, and around the eyes ("crow's feet") by injecting a small amount of Botox or Dysport into the target area. While both offer similar results, Botox may take approximately three to five days for results to be seen; Dysport shows improvement within a day or two. Although Dysport may act faster, both last three to four months.

For patients who would like to regain volume in other areas of the face, such as the nasolabial folds, acne scars, or lips, Dr. Friedman also offers facial fillers. The most commonly used include Juvederm ™, Restylane ®, and Perlane ®. It is important to note that fillers are different from Botox and Dysport; injectable fillers are used to enhance volume (cheeks, beneath eyes, lips). Injectable fillers are also used to improve lip lines, chin wrinkles, and "nasolabial folds" (the lines between your nose and the corners of your mouth). Restylane, Perlane, and Juvederm lift the depressed skin to a more youthful appearance versus Botox and Dysport, which block nerve signals to the muscles that cause signs of aging. Plano wrinkle treatment patients may achieve an overall refreshed look when combining any of the offered injectables and dermal fillers.
